Are your products handmade?

Yes. We source premium ferrocerium rods and pair them with local beech wood handles that we carve and finish by hand. Each handle is treated with our own signature blend, giving it its durability and beautiful natural look. Natural resources like fatwood, flint rocks, and other materials are responsibly and sustainably harvested by us in the Basque Country, always with respect for the environment. All firestarters — every single one — are prepared in small batches in our workshop using only high-quality materials. This way we can guarantee reliable, field-tested gear you can trust.

Are the materials safe and non-toxic?

Yes. Every tinder we make is non-toxic and safe to handle. Our fatwood is 100% natural, hand-harvested from the Basque forests. Our magic cotton sticks and waxed jute are infused with Spanish-sourced paraffin — non-toxic, odourless and clean-burning, with no harmful chemicals or synthetic additives. Safe to use in any outdoor setting.

Can these firestarters get wet and still work?

Yes. Our magic cotton sticks and waxed jute are both designed to perform in wet conditions. The wax coating on the jute repels moisture, and the magic cotton formula ignites even from a single spark after being exposed to rain. The fatwood’s high resin content makes it naturally water-resistant. Dry them briefly if fully soaked and they’ll perform as normal.

How should I care for and maintain my gear?

To keep your tools in top shape, we recommend wiping down the wooden handles and ferro rods after use, especially if they’ve been exposed to rain or mud. A light coat of natural oil (like linseed or beeswax) on the wooden handles every few months will keep them protected and looking great.

What does the 3-year guarantee cover?

Our 3-year guarantee covers any manufacturing defect — if your ferro rod handle separates from the rod, if a tin arrives damaged or if any component fails under normal use, we’ll replace it. No questions asked. We stand behind everything we make because we make it ourselves.

What is your return policy?

We offer a 30-day “No Questions Asked” return guarantee. If you are not 100% satisfied, you can return your gear within 30 days of delivery. Please note that tools and knives must be unused and in their original packaging, showing no signs of field use (scratches, sharpening marks), for safety and hygiene reasons.

Where do you ship and how long does it take?

We currently ship across the European Union. Orders are handcrafted and dispatched within 1-2 business days, with delivery typically taking 3-7 business days depending on your location. You’ll receive a tracking number as soon as your order ships.

Is the packaging really plastic-free?

Completely. Every order ships in a kraft cardboard box filled with natural fiber — no bubble wrap, no plastic bags, no synthetic materials. Even the tape we use is paper-based. We made this commitment because we build gear for people who respect the wild, and we think the packaging should reflect the same values as the product inside.

An item I want is out of stock. When will it return?

Because everything is handmade in small batches in our workshop, stock can run out quickly. The best way to know about restocks is to subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on social media, where we announce new batches as soon as they are ready.

Do you accept custom or bulk orders?
