Description
Fatwood is one of the most dependable natural firestarters in the world and requires almost no effort to light. It naturally forms inside fallen pine trees. When a tree dies, the remaining resin slowly settles into the heartwood over time, creating dense, resin-rich sections that become waterproof, highly flammable and incredibly reliable.
We harvest our Fatwood from dead trees, deep in the forests of the Basque Country, never cutting healthy trees or damaging the surrounding forest. Everything is collected by hand, piece by piece, respecting the landscape and taking only what nature has already given.
Once gathered, each stick is processed and shaped by us. The high concentration of resin makes it extremely easy to ignite. To use it, simply scrape off a few shavings and strike your ferro rod on them. The resin will catch instantly and produce a strong, bright flame that burns hot even in rain, wind or cold.
100% natural, sustainably collected and crafted with care by LastBush Survival in the same forests where we film and live our adventures.
